About Des Murphy

Des Murphy is a media education trainer and consultant who provides CPD/INSET courses for teachers and lecturers. For a number of years he was Principal Teacher of English and Media Studies at Bridge of Don Academy in Aberdeen and from 2004 till 2007 he was Curriculum Support Teacher for Media Education for Aberdeen City.

He is Secretary of the Association for Media Education in Scotland (AMES) and editor of The Media Education Journal.

He has written an MA course, An Introduction to Media Education, for the University of Aberdeen and has been an Associate Tutor of the British Film Institute and Scottish Screen Lead Practitioner.

He is currently writing a book on three films by Jacques Demy.
